Annapolis, MD, November 1, 2012: On Sunday, November 4th the Annapolis 40 Days for Life prayer vigil will end with a Community Outreach event called Stand for Life. This event aims to raise awareness about the loss of 3,300 innocent lives in America every single day.
Laura Jones, the Director of the Annapolis 40 Days for Life Campaign put it this way, “Imagine a tall cliff in Annapolis where people from all around the county come to end their own life. Most of the time the road to the cliff is closed, but on certain days the gate isopen and people come in droves to take advantage of the opportunity to end their despair and fear of the future. Would it seem strange for a group of people, moved by compassion, to go to the cliff and pray for them and offer a helping hand instead of death?”
This has been the scene on West Street in Annapolis. On September 26, many faithful people from across Anne Arundel County committed to pray for women considering an abortion at the Planned Parenthood, for the preborn babies, and even for the workers that perform the abortions.
“Many people cannot understand why it is so important to pray at the site where abortions take place, but it is the only way to reach those who are in desperation,” says Michael Martelli, Executive Director of the Maryland Coalition for Life. “Being there allows men and women who are seeking an abortion to see others praying for them, and it reminds them that God cares about them and their baby. Being there when they make their final decision about life or death allows them an Online generic cialis 100 mg opportunity to change their mind, and accept the loving help and support that the Pro-Life community offers them.”
Participants in the Stand for Life event will be given a number to represent one life lost to abortion that day. The memorial “Life Chain” will begin forming at 2 PM on Rowe Blvd (at the corner of Bladen and Calvert Streets), across from the Firemen’s Memorial. At 3 PM we will stand in solidarity for those who have no legs and pray for those who have no voice. At 3:30 PM, we will march to Lawyer’s Mall, which is strategically positioned between the residence of Governor O’Malley and the StateLegislature where George Washington resigned his commission, where we will gather and listen to music from Mr. & Mrs. Dustin Himmerich and addresses by Jeff Meister of Maryland Right to Life; Eileen Smith, whose daughter died during an abortion in 2007; and Gloria Purvis, host of EWTN’s acclaimed series, “Authentically Free at Last.” This event will be held rain or shine. 40 Days for Life Signs only please.
